Lanolin
Lanolin or wool wax softens the nose and mucous membrane. Lanolin is well-known and researched as a useful anti-dryness remedy because it helps retain natural moisture on the skin. The substance is better known as a remedy for sore nipples, but also noted as a good remedy for an excessively sniffy and sore nose. Lanolin is essentially a natural fatty substance or wool wax obtained from sheep’s wool. Naturally, this substance forms a protective layer on sheep’s wool, i.e. it is similar to the fat secreted by human skin. Lanolin was already extracted from sheep’s wool hundreds of years ago by peasants. The substance was used for its special emulsifying and antiseptic properties that bind water and fat, which is why it was known as a cosmetic.
